Steve Mitros, MD
IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT
Biography:
Attracted many years ago to the nascent art and science of joint replacement, upon completion of his residency at the University of Michigan, Dr. Steve Mitros began private practice in South Bend in 1981. Like many orthopaedic surgeons, however, he has a love of sports, and while building a busy practice focused on hip and knee arthroplasty he was privileged to serve as team physician for Marian High School football and Bethel College basketball, as well as South Bend's minor league baseball team. He is a fellow in the AAOS and AAHKS, and active in IOS affairs since 1995, he has already served one term as its president, and six years representing Indiana on the Academy's Board of Councilors.
Retiring from surgical practice in 2019, he remains committed to your state society and its activities on your behalf, and will also stay on as the physician for the now South Bend Cubs. In addition to working to benefit you and your practices, he hopes to find a little more time for being a husband to his wife of 47 years, Janet, a dad, a grandpa, and for golf, reading American history, and working in the yard.
